Everything is Shaking
With all that is going on right now, do you ever feel that your world is being shaken? This leaves much uncertainty and anxiety for many. When our world, or the world around us is being shaken it is important to have a firm foundation. Join us for this week’s discussion.
Most of us go through seasons in life where there is a shaking of that causes us to question our core values. What we really believe, our life choices, what is really important to us.
Then there are times where a society will go through a shakedown, similar to what we are experiencing right now with Covid, financial uncertainty and political turmoil.
How well we survive depends on our foundation. Many people will build their life foundation around finances, career or education, but any of these can change in an instant.
Matthew 7:24-27
Anyone who listens to my teaching and follows it is wise, like a person who builds a house on solid rock. Though the rain comes in torrents and the floodwaters rise and the winds beat against that house, it won’t collapse because it is built on bedrock. But anyone who hears my teaching and doesn’t obey it is foolish, like a person who builds a house on sand. When the rains and floods come and the winds beat against that house, it will collapse with a mighty crash.”
We can have a foundation that goes much deeper. When your foundation is the Word of God it transcends any problem the world can throw at you.
Proverbs 3:5-6
Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.
Matthew 11:28-29
Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.
This is more than just positive thinking, it is coming to the Lord, asking his forgiveness and starting a relationship with him.
John 1:12
Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God
Christianity is more than a religion, it is a relationship with God. That is why we can say he is our foundation. When the storm comes and the earth shakes, our foundation doesn’t move.
