The Value of Integrity
This week we discuss integrity and why it is important. Have you ever made a purchase and afterwards found out the sales person lacked integrity? How did you feel? While we can’t control others, it is important that we ourselves operate with integrity.
Integrity is the quality of being honest and having strong moral principles. People with integrity
- Do the right thing because it is the right thing to do
- People with integrity do the right thing, even when nobody is watching
- Keep their promises
- Have a strong work ethic
- Not afraid of the truth, even when it is difficult
Having integrity means that you live in accordance to your deepest values, you’re honest with everyone, and you always keep your word. Having character and integrity is important in both the workplace and personal relationships.
Jon Huntsman, Sr. is a multibillionaire who started from scratch said “There are no moral shortcuts in the game of business or life. There are, basically, three kinds of people, the unsuccessful, the temporarily successful, and those who become and remain successful. The difference is character.”
This week’s challenge
On a regular basis I’ll take a look at myself and ask “How is my integrity doing in the area of honesty, keeping my promises and work ethic? Are there areas I can improve?” I challenge you to do the same and if there are areas you can do better, then learn from the mistakes and move forward with greater integrity.
