Christmas Greetings
It has been a while since we have done a broadcast, so I wanted to take this opportunity to reach out with a Christmas greeting and message. Also, excited to let you know that Monday Motivation will be back to a weekly broadcast in 2022.
I’ve missed doing the Monday Motivation, but needed to take a break. First of all, my Mother in Law moved in and my daughter moved back home. I think the empty nest concept is overrated so we’re back to a full house. In business matters, I have been busy with production work and with History Makers Society. Exciting news with History Makers, we are opening up the History Makers School of Destiny this fall. It starts this September and runs 1 weekend per month for 9 months.
With the pressure of a very busy year, add to that the ongoing Covid situation, it has been a stressful time for many people, myself included. All the more reason to take a pause this Christmas season.
Why is Christmas special to you?
Is it?
- Family & friends
- Lights and decorations
- Time off work
- Family traditions
- Christmas dinner
- Getting presents
- Perhaps you’ve discovered the joy in giving presents
All of these are good, but if you truly want a meaningful Christmas, let’s remember the one who’s birth we celebrate.
Or perhaps Christmas is a difficult time for you due to circumstances, if so, Christmas gives us a reason for hope.
Let’s remember the Christmas story from Luke 2.
So Joseph also went up from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to Bethlehem the town of David, because he belonged to the house and line of David. He went there to register with Mary, who was pledged to be married to him and was expecting a child. While they were there, the time came for the baby to be born, and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no guest room available for them.
And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord. This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.”
But this was not just any baby. This was the birth of the messiah, the saviour, as had been foretold by the prophets hundreds of years prior.
At 30 years of age he entered into public ministry and quickly became a popular public figure. Some followed him for the miracles. Others followed him as a political saviour, who would save them from the oppressive Roman regime of the day.
Three years later he was subjected to an illegal trial and executed. Why, didn’t he defend himself? Why did he not call the armies of heaven to deliver him from this fate? Knowing his purpose, he allowed himself to be the perfect and final sacrifice for our sins. He accomplished once and for all what the blood of goats and lambs could not.
While living here on earth, he taught and demonstrated the way we are to live under God’s new covenant with mankind. He didn’t come to start a new religion or political movement. Instead, he taught us many things, including :
- Love your neighbour as yourself
- Forgive others
- Honour and love your spouse
- How to treat others
- He taught us to examine our heart and not just our actions
Back to Christmas. I see it as so much more than a cute baby story. It is more than a one time miracle. It is the day we celebrate the birth of the Christ, our Lord and our Saviour.
If you know Jesus as Lord and Saviour, then let’s rejoice and celebrate.
If Jesus is just another religious or historical figure to you, I strongly encourage you to look at his life and look into his claims. This Christmas you could receive the gift he offers you.
