Be Offended! It’s Healthy
In today’s culture it is so easy to be offended or to offend someone else. Is it possible for that to be healthy? Today I share my thoughts on the topic of being offended.
Offense can create division. Unforgiveness allows it to fester and increases the divide.
So how can it possibly be healthy?
- While you can not control the offender, you can control your response and emotions. It can help you grow in self control and control over your mind. (Otherwise you risk being manipulated by the offender)
- It can cause you to reevaluate your position and look at both sides of an issue.
- It can teach you how to compromise and build bridges – but you have to be willing to forgive.
- It could be someone who cares about you and is trying to help you because they see something you don’t.
So is it healthy – or not? Well that is totally up to you and how you choose to respond. You can choose to manage the situation and grow from it our you can let the offense control you. Your choice.
